Buddy was surrendered to CAS because he was going blind and his family could no longer care for him. When he came to CAS he suffered from sudden and extremely dangerous panic attacks due to being left in a strange place with unfamiliar smells and sounds (certainly a very frightening situation for a blind horse). It took many months of working with him to reassure Buddy that sounds he couldn’t recognize weren’t a threat. One of Buddy’s eyes caused him pain, so we had it removed; his other eye was not removed because it is not painful to him. Buddy’s former owner is his special sponsor.
