Henrietta

A woman bought Henrietta for $90 at a live poultry market the day before Thanksgiving and brought her to CAS. When asked what she was planning on having for Thanksgiving dinner, her response was “Turkey…I just thought this one was cute.”  Despite industry-induced health problems, Henrietta was the most affectionate and exuberant turkey we have ever known. She was dubbed as CAS’s feminist because she would chase away the roosters when they bothered the chickens in the barn.

Henrietta passed away two days before Thanksgiving 2011. Abbie Rodgers, who cared for Henrietta while she was at CAS, wrote a touching blog about Henrietta’s passing. You can read the blog here.
