Join Us for Informative, Fun and Tasty Vegan Cooking Demonstrations at the 12th Annual Shindig!

Learn how to make delicious and simple vegan dishes at our cooking demos taking place in the teaching kitchen at The Homestead. We are offering four different demos, each with a different chef, to provide a variety of ideas to expand your mind and your palate.

11:30-12:00 Easy as Pie!
chef lindaAlways looking for a healthy and vegan twist to familiar foods, CAS Chef Linda will show you how to make a super-simple, no-bake pie crust and two easy fillings so that you can whip up decadent and delicious pies in no time at home.

Linda Soper-Kolton is a graduate of Manhattan’s Natural Gourmet Institute for Health and Culinary Arts and The Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Linda is a passionate, judgement-free vegan culinary instructor, chef and health coach who seeks to inspire a compassionate approach to cooking and life.

12:30-1:00 Passion for Pumpkin
Making a return appearance at CAS, guest chef David Hall will embrace the seasonal splendor of the pumpkin and show you how to make something fun and fabulous with one of his fall favorites.

Chef David Hall is a vocalist and songwriter who composes a meal like he composes a song Рfresh, eclectic and from the heart. As a child in Northern California he sang and cooked in the kitchen with his grandmothers, making everything from soul food standards like collard greens and sweet potato pie to staples of other ethic groups like curries and tiramisu. After his first short but sweet stint at owning a caf̩,Harmony Kitchen NYC, David is enjoying his summer, growing vegetables in his community garden, testing recipes, catering events and planning ventures to bring music and delicious compassionate cuisine to the people. 1:30-2:00 A Taste of the South
jenneJoin Jenne Claiborne, also making a return appearance as a guest chef, as she brings a her southern influence to the kitchen and teaches us how to make a quick but authentic BBQ tempeh sandwich.

Jenné Claiborne is a personal vegan chef in NYC, and the creator of the 21-Day Vegan Blueprint. She is immensely passionate about the vegan lifestyle, and strives to inspire others to live healthier, happier and more compassionate lives. Jenné’s cooking style is influenced by her southern upbringing, love of seasonal produce and world travels. You can follow her on all social media @sweetpotatosoul.

2:30-3:00 Wild About Greens, Crazy for Kale
A longtime greens enthusiast, Nava Atlas will show you how to transform raw kale into a pair ofNava-for-web delectable salads, using common ingredients. In addition, Nava will be available to answer your questions on leafy greens.

Nava Atlas has written many well-known veg cookbooks, most recently Wild About Greens, Vegan Holiday Kitchen, Vegan Soups and Hearty Stews for All Seasons, and many others.  Her site, VegKitchen, is one of the leading web resources for vegan recipes and plant-based kitchen tips. A longtime Hudson Valley resident, Nava is also a visual artist, whose work has been shown nationally in museums, galleries, and alternative art spaces, and is part of numerous museum and university collections.
