Harry came to Catskill in the fall of 2011 along with 13 other horses that were taken from a case of severe neglect in Saratoga, NY. He was skin and bones when he arrived at Catskill and the staff worked hard to get weight back on this boy. Due to complete lack of care in his past life, Harry also had horrible hooves and a condition that was potentially life-threatening. The greater challenge, though, was his emotional state: Harry had been beaten, and it has taken years of patience to work through his deep mistrust of humans. We’re delighted to report, though, that Harry has recovered well on all fronts! He is a permanent resident of Catskill Animal Sanctuary so that he continues to receive the specialized care he needs in order to thrive.
