Need some ideas to get you started? Here are 50 things you can do to help!
Want to go vegan or vegetarian?
We can help! You and your family can get connected with your very own vegan mentor through our New Leaf Vegan Mentor program. A mentor can help you by sharing advice, answering questions, and supporting you with your vegan journey.
Believe it or not, the food we eat affects not only the well-being of animals and the quality of our own health, it impacts our planet as a whole.
Yet, finding information about farmed animals isn’t easy because so many farms make it difficult to find out what really goes on there.
At Catskill Animal Sanctuary, we believe we should know where our food comes from – otherwise, how can we make the right choices?
That’s why we created this handy, fun and informative resource guide, designed just for young people.

PETA Kids has tons of cool animal facts, games, and more.
World Wildlife Fund (WWF)

Learn about the Environment
Have you heard of an environmental footprint? It tells you the impact that your actions have on the environment. Find out the size of yours, and how you can help reduce it!
National Geographic has tons of information about the environment, created to educate, inspire and empower young people.
NASA studies much more than space! Their Climate Kids site offers a lot on the Earth’s climate and the impact of climate change.
They don’t have much information on animal farming and its impact on the environment, though. Why do you think?
Start an Animal-Friendly Movie Night
Check out the sneaky animal-rights messaging hidden in these popular movies:
- Finding Nemo; and Finding Dory — fish are friends, not food!
- Chicken Run — can the chickens escape the pie machine before it’s too late?
- Babe — the classic story of a very, very clever pig.
- The Bee Movie — even the smallest animals deserve our consideration.
We bet you can find more, too. If you do, email us, and we’ll add your movie to the list!
