Thanksgiving is beloved by many as a time to come together with friends and family and enjoy delicious, cozy comfort food. If you’re vegan or veg-curious, you might be deciding to opt-out of the turkey tradition this year. The turkeys thank you!
If you’re still on the fence about choosing a turkey-free main course for Thanksgiving, here’s a bit of news to consider: November is
World Vegan Month, and we can’t think of a better way to show some kindness toward our turkey friends than choosing a plant-based entree for Thanksgiving. But how to fill that space at the center of the table with an entree both joyously festive and utterly scrumptious?
In the mood to roll up your sleeves and get cooking this Thanksgiving?
Chef Linda has compiled a list of our very favorite holiday mains that will satisfy any comfort food craving. Feel like taking it easy this year and letting someone else do the cooking? We’ve got you covered there, too! Read on for our 4 Must-Try Pre-Made Vegan Entrees for Your Thanksgiving Table – and be sure to give at least one of them a try this holiday season!
#1 –
Tofurky Plant-Based Holiday Feast
Don’t be put off by the uber-round appearance of this squat little roast: it packs a lot of flavor, protein, and looks beautiful sliced and served on your favorite platter. This year’s Feast has a vegan chocolate cheesecake included with the roast, so you’ll have your main dish and dessert covered in a snap! (Want to make your own vegan dessert for holidays? No worries: you can
buy the roast and gravy sans-cheesecake.)
Pro tip: for extra flavor and moistness, baste your Tofurky roast with vegetable broth several times while baking.
#2 – Field Roast Celebration Roast with Traditional Bread Stuffing & Mushroom Gravy
This gorgeous roast from perennial favorite, Field Roast, boasts a traditional bread stuffing filling packed with celery, cranberries, and butternut squash. And because no Thanksgiving main is complete without a stellar gravy, this roast comes with easy-to-heat packets of porcini and shiitake mushroom gravy, perfect for spooning over slices or a mound of mashed potatoes. Leftover roast slices make stellar day-after-Thanksgiving sandwiches!
#3 -Field Roast Hazelnut Cranberry Roast En Croute
Another mouthwatering option from Field Roast, this roast features hazelnut-infused seitan stuffed with vegan sausage, cranberries, apples, and ginger, all wrapped in flaky puff pastry. This entree will make you want to take out the good china – though it’s just as delicious served up on paper plates, if that’s more your style.
#4 – Gardein Holiday Roast
If you attended our very first Gobble & Groove celebration (way back in 2017!) you’ll have already tried this fabulous roast! If not, it received the stamp of approval from Chef Linda and me, as well as all our happy guests. This tender roast is stuffed with wild rice, cranberries, and celery, and comes with gravy that just needs a quick reheat on the stovetop or in the microwave before serving.
We hope these options help you feel empowered to make more compassionate choices this Thanksgiving. Have you tried any of the roasts we recommended? Which are your favorites?
Wishing you and yours a warm and big-hearted holiday!
