Davey is delightfully charming and very affectionate. He is the effortless leader of the Underfoot (free-roaming) herd, partially due to his size, but also due to his outgoing, fearless, and loyal personality. He is often among the first to warm up to strangers and is not shy about asking for more scratches when he wants them. Like some of the other sheep, Davey has a habit of softly pushing his head against or pawing the human he’d like to get more attention from. It’s very easy to fall in love with Davey!
Davey was born at Catskill Animal Sanctuary to his mother Laverne, who was rescued from a massive neglect and hoarding case in Westport, Massachusetts through the ASPCA. Laverne endured years of hardship before finding safety at CAS, and Davey’s birth was very difficult. He was named after Dr. Davey, the veterinarian who helped deliver him! After Laverne passed away in May 2021, Davey slowly rose to the top of the Underfoot herd’s hierarchy.
