The Spared Turkey: Meet Daisy
Daisy, like most other turkeys raised in the US, was destined to end up on someone’s dinner plate. It’s a wretched life from beginning to end (learn more about farm-raised turkeys here), but luckily for Daisy, a CAS volunteer brought Daisy to the Sanctuary to live with our male turkey, Declan. The two live in a large yard where they enjoy soaking up the sun and pecking in the grass. This Thanksgiving, over 40 million turkeys will be killed and placed at the center of the table – these birds never experienced a kind hand or a day in the sun; they were never given a name. They suffered from birth till death. Take a stand for turkeys; choose a compassionate meal this Thanksgiving. Daisy thanks you. Click here to discover delicious, vegan Thanksgiving dishes!
