Standing Together: AAPI Community Solidarity

As an organization whose values include kindness and advocacy, we feel compelled to speak on the racism and horrific violence inflicted on the AAPI community — including the recent shooting in Atlanta but also stretching back to all of 2020, when reported anti-Asian hate crime escalated 149%, and further back to include The United States’ legacies of violence against Asian people (the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, Japanese internment, and more). Because we stand for the right of all beings to live free from harm and injustice, we have a moral obligation to stand with the Asian community, to fight racism, to question unconscious bias, and to elevate marginalized voices. What else can we do to help? Contact your elected representatives and ask how they plan to use their power to help through policy. Connect with your community and find tangible ways to take action locally. Model allyship and continue to learn. We will remember their names: Soon Chung Park, Suncha Kim, Yong Ae Yue, Hyun Jung Grant, Xiaojie Tan, Delaina Yaun, Daoyou Feng, Paul Andre Michels
