We Stand For Reproductive Freedom
We are saddened and outraged by The Supreme Court’s announcement overturning Roe V. Wade. Like so many of you, while we understood that this was coming, we are nonetheless shocked by the cruelty and absurdity of undoing over 50 years of legal precedent and human rights.
The past few days have emphasized how precious —and fragile— our fundamental rights have become. These rights have always been vulnerable and our vigilance can never waver. The trans, undocumented, and BIPOC communities have long been in this fight (and others), often without enough support and are under even greater threat after this SCOTUS decision. We must stand shoulder to shoulder, together, in order to change the current trajectory.
For 21 years Catskill Animal Sanctuary has advocated for the freedom of all beings, which includes reproductive freedom — no one of any species should be forced to give birth to fulfill anyone else’s rules or desires. Our veganism — and the mission of this Sanctuary— will always include standing for human rights, including the right to abortion. We believe in the right to govern our own bodies and decide our own futures.
If these events have sent you spiraling, please be gentle with yourself— but do not freeze. We have work to do. We remember the words of Mariame Kaba: “Let this radicalize you rather than lead you to despair.”
Love Spoken Here.
