Uniting Hearts and Hooves: Celebrating Pride at Catskill Animal Sanctuary

In a year marked by challenges and adversity, it is more important than ever to come together as a community and create safe spaces where everyone can find solace, joy, and support. At Catskill Animal Sanctuary, we are thrilled to announce our first ever Pride Day, a special event dedicated to celebrating our LGBTQIA friends and offering them a sanctuary of love, acceptance, and relaxation in the company of our rescued animals.

We recognize that the past year has been particularly difficult for our queer and trans friends. The societal pressures they face demand our unwavering support and understanding. To provide a much-needed safe space, we are offering free tours to anyone who needs respite and connection during this time. Catskill Animal Sanctuary hopes to be a refuge where individuals can find solace, make meaningful connections, and experience the healing power of the human-animal bond.

To add an extra dash of joy and celebration to this special day, we are delighted to welcome two fabulous vegan drag queens from Upstate New York, Rosetta Stoned and Arya Dun, who will be joining us as greeters. Their vibrant presence and infectious energy will uplift spirits and create an atmosphere of love, acceptance, and authenticity.

For over two decades, Catskill Animal Sanctuary’s rescued animals have been a source of comfort, companionship, and unconditional love for legions of folks from around the world. On Pride Day, our animal ambassadors will offer their gentle presence, and the profound healing that comes from connecting with these remarkable beings. From cows to chickens, pigs to goats, they embody resilience and remind us of the importance of embracing our authentic selves.

Pride Day at Catskill Animal Sanctuary is a celebration of diversity, resilience, and compassion. We invite everyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, to join us in creating a welcoming and inclusive space where love knows no boundaries. Let us stand together, united in our commitment to acceptance, understanding, and the well-being of all individuals. Together, we can build a more compassionate world where everyone can live authentically, and animals and humans alike can thrive.

Originally hailing from the town of New Paltz, Arya Dun is just as peace-loving and goofy as one could imagine and more! Arya can be found on Instagram as well as throughout Upstate NY performing with their own special brand of sunshine and chaos. Arya has been vegetarian for several years now and, after visiting Catskill Animal Sanctuary last year, has recently committed to becoming entirely plant-based! They are proud to serve as a glowing example of just how beneficial the tiny steps along the way from enough people can make a powerful change for our world and for all the beings who inhabit it.
