Cecilia, lovingly known as “Cece,” is a deeply affectionate and sweet turkey. She adores being pampered with snuggles and scratches underneath her wings. Caregivers have noticed that when Cece wants attention, she “loafs” right at their feet similarly to a cat! Cece is among the first to greet visitors with happy turkey trills and will even “talk back” to you, as long as you know how to speak turkey. Cece is looking for dedicated sponsors who understand just how loving and affectionate birds like her can be.
| Cecilia was rescued in June 2021. She originally lived in someone’s apartment! Her owners were unaware at first that the chicks they received were turkeys instead of chickens. When their landlord could no longer allow them to keep Cece, she was brought here to CAS. Cecilia is a “Broad Breasted White” turkey, an industry breed that has been artificially and selectively bred for human consumption. Sadly, they are standardly slaughtered while they’re still in their infancy at ~16 weeks old. |
