Time for Spring Cleaning!

Tired and Happy VolunteersUpdate: Thanks so much for your interest in volunteering on April 18! Unfortunately, this particular volunteer day is limited to 32 people given the limited number of tools, equipment and staff we have to supervise, and so the spots are reserved for folks on the NYC bus. You’re welcome to register for the wait list for free and we’ll notify you a few days in advance if a seat opens up. And we invite you to drive up on your own for a weekend tour and to stay overnight at the Homestead, our guest house at the sanctuary. Also, there will be additional volunteer days coming up, so stay tuned! Many thanks!   Spring is coming! After a long, hard winter, the sanctuary needs some sprucing up! We invite our NYC friends (minimum age of 15) to road trip up to CAS on April 18 on a special chartered bus for a day of painting, light landscaping, and shelter and pasture cleaning. Just cover the cost of your seat on the bus ($38), and we’ll provide a day of fun in the country, the wonderful company of rescued farmed animals, and lunch with CAS founder Kathy Stevens!

  • We’ll depart Greenwich Village (20 East 9th Street, near University Place) at exactly 7.45 a.m. and arrive at CAS around 10 a.m.
  • Then we’ll leave CAS at 4 p.m. and arrive back in NYC around 6 p.m.
Volunteers repair a horse fenceHeartfelt thanks for helping to kick off another exciting season at CAS! As a token of our thanks, volunteers will be given a 20% discount on merchandise in the Welcome Hut that day. For more information, please email Outreach Manager Michelle Alvarez at michelle@casanctuary.org. Bus tickets must be purchased in advance, and seats are limited so don’t wait! Book your seat now!

    1. Hi Nancy! Unfortunately the minimum age to volunteer on April 18 is 15 years old, due to safety reasons. We warmly encourage you to bring your child on a tour, though — we open for tours the first weekend in April. Thanks!
