As Catskill Animal Sanctuary begins a new year, a fresh start, we want to take a moment to honor what we carry with us from the past. We carry the lessons humbly learned. We carry the past year's losses. We mourn those who succumbed to illness or age or those too far gone to save. We're strengthened by the small miracles we witness every day, from the happy life of a blind baby goat to the grit and resilience of horses nearing the age of forty.

We march forth into 2019 with a staff who are dedicated, hardworking, kind, and resilient. We dearly wish everyone could have been included in this photo, but alas, baby Leo needed a walk, stalls needed to be mucked, and tractors needed to be driven (and a few folks are photo-shy!)

As the new year begins, we remember above all else, the most important part of our work is to speak with love. Though our mission grows more urgent with each passing day, though we have unpopular truths to tell, though we share stories of heartbreak and loss, we can't go forward without love. We can't reach anyone without love. In 2019, we renew our commitment to learn and to grow — and to speak with love, always.
Love spoken here.
