Awesome BBQ Sauce

By Chef Linda

Just like many things in life, there are thousand and one ways to do them. Take BBQ sauce, so many versions, so little time. This version of our Awesome BBQ Sauce is simple, requires no chopping or special equipment, but delivers a ton of taste with just the whisk of a fork. Keep these ingredient on hand so that you can whip up a batch whenever you crave the addition of BBQ to anything…tempeh, mock chicken or beef, beans, Macaroni & Cheeze or pizza. The extra will keep in the fridge for several weeks, or freeze some for a snowy, winter day when summer feels like it may never come again.

Ingredients

1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
 ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
 3 tablespoons real maple syrup
2 tablespoons tamari or soy sauce
 1 teaspoon hot chili sauce
 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
 2 tablespoons vegan Worcestershire sauce
 2 tablespoons molasses
 1 tablespoon liquid smoke
 2 teaspoons onion powder
 ½ teaspoon garlic powder
 ½ teaspoon ground white pepper
 Juice from one medium lemon
 Salt to taste

Directions

1

Add all ingredients to a medium bowl and whisk to combine. Taste and adjust seasonings. Thin with water to desired consistency if it’s too thick.
