Congratulations to Our Winner!

Congratulations to Our Winner!

A great big thanks to everyone who participated in our recent survey! Our goal was to learn more about you and how we can help you to make mindful choices about what you eat. We learned some very interesting things about why you read the blog, what your challenges are, what you want to see more of, and other ways we can help. As a result, we’ll be incorporating these things into, not only the blog, but other programming and projects as we move forward this year.

As promised, we chose a participant at random to receive either a $50 gift card to Amazon or a free cooking class. Andrea chose the gift card since she will be busy adding another member to her family this summer. Thank you Andrea, for participating and for sharing a little bit about your journey.

Thanks for participating, Andrea!

“Over 20 years ago, I became vegetarian and stopped wearing leather products. I couldn’t bear to think about animals being killed for my meals, so I felt the need to stop eating meat. Fifteen years ago, I began dating my husband-to-be who graciously joined me in indulging at every vegetarian restaurant I could pinpoint in any city we visited. About five years ago, I began chatting with vegan friends about the reasons they don’t eat dairy and eggs, and I began cooking more vegan meals. Becoming a mom created stronger empathy for dairy cows who are separated from their babies, many of whom go to slaughter. Even though I loved my dairy cheese and ice cream, the abuse of the cows and calves was not worth the momentary pleasure of indulging in those foods. There is so much food I can enjoy that does not cause harm. After a delicious vegan trip to Portland Oregon in the fall of 2014, I decided to commit to veganism. I find it easy to cook and bake vegan foods, but eating out in the small city in which I live is more challenging for me when I crave variety. My friend is a member at the sanctuary, and she invited my little one and me to join her for a visit.”

You don’t need a survey to tell us how you feel, how we can help, or to answer your questions; Email Chef Linda when you’ve got something on your mind!
